The project required odour containment solutions for multiple process tanks within an operational food processing environment. GRP odour control covers were specified to provide effective containment while supporting defined load requirements across different tank areas.
Project Requirements
Saputo UK required odour control systems capable of performing reliably within a food processing facility, with differing load and access requirements across multiple tanks. Key requirements included:
- Odour containment across anoxic and balance tanks
- Defined load ratings to suit varying operational access needs
- Compatibility with large-diameter circular tank structures
- Resistance to moisture and process-related exposure
- Durable, low-maintenance construction suitable for long-term use
All systems were required to support environmental compliance and operational safety.
Installed GRP Solution
PJNC supplied GRP odour control covers across multiple process tanks, including:
- 600 m² of GRP odour control covers
The covers were configured to suit individual tank layouts, diameters, and load requirements, ensuring consistent odour containment across the facility.
Technical & Design Requirements
The GRP odour control systems were designed to meet the following criteria:
Balance Tank
- Tank diameter: 22 m
- Design load: 1 kN/m²
Anoxic Tanks
- Area: 105 m²
- Design load: 18 kN/m²
The systems were engineered to accommodate differing structural and operational demands while maintaining effective odour containment.
Installation & Delivery
GRP odour control covers were delivered to site in prefabricated sections to support efficient handling and installation. Installation was coordinated to minimise disruption within the operational food processing environment and to align with ongoing site activities.
Outcome & In-Service Performance
The completed GRP odour control covers now provide effective containment across the process tanks at the Saputo UK facility. The systems support environmental compliance while delivering durable, load-rated access appropriate to the differing operational requirements of each tank area.
